Class
Preparation
The
preparation of writing poetry in the classroom depends of the type of poem the
students are writing. If the student is writing poetry to accompany artwork,
then art supplies are needed. With drama, props or costumes may be warranted.
With music, audio equipment or musical instruments may be appropriate. Whatever
the case, thoroughly be prepared with whatever materials you may need.
The
class itself should be set up to be support historical creativity. Purchased or
student-made history posters, should be posted to give students ideas about
writing. Later, student poetry should grace the wall, providing both motivation
and models what can be accomplished.
Desks
can be arranged so that collaborative writing and sharing can take place.
Places can be allocated for quiet independent work for those students who
desire a more secluded environment in which to work. In short, the class should
be flexible to accommodate any type of writing assignment.
